Disaster can strike at any time. Fortunately, there is Alertswiss, a mobile app developed by the Federal Office for Civil Protection that assists with emergency preparedness and safety. The app provides real-time alerts, warnings, and information, ensuring that users are always aware of the necessary actions to take. Through push notifications, the Alertswiss app delivers valuable tips and instructions on how to best protect oneself and loved ones.

Customization options allow users to specify which cantons they want to receive notifications for, such as those where relatives or friends reside. All reports are conveniently displayed on the smartphone's homescreen. Additionally, push notifications can be enabled for the user's current location after granting authorization for location services. This ensures that reports and information for both the user's preferred cantons and current location are readily accessible on the homescreen.

Maps provide clear visualization of areas affected by ongoing incidents. The overview screen displays ongoing incidents as well as those that have been resolved or given the all-clear.

The Reports section offers an overview of the latest official incident information released in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. These reports are classified into three severity levels: alerts, warnings, and information. Alerts denote an immediate risk requiring public compliance with official instructions. Warnings indicate potential risks or incidents accompanied by recommendations from authorities. All other reports default to the information level.

The Alertswiss blog features up-to-date news related to civil protection including recent deployments, drills, personnel updates, policy developments, and planning.
